Chatter People Page
Chatter is a social network for businesses that improves collaboration and communication between employees, making work more productive and enjoyable. I lead the redesign of the Chatter People page, a crucial part of the app for finding and interacting with other users.
The existing People page was a simple alphabetical directory of users in the company, a design that did not scale well or provide any actions or recommendations to facilitate getting work done more efficiently. We found that our users wanted to be able to more quickly find colleagues or people they had recently interacted with, so we focused on optimizing the experience for improving efficiency and increasing engagement.
The new design helps users quickly find people they recently interacted with, by surfacing recently viewed people, as well as provides the most commonly used actions on hover. To help increase user engagement, we included a recommendations carousel that provides smart, contextual recommendations to users based on their relationship and interactions with other people in their organization.
The design also introduced new design patterns for grid and list views, that are now being used widely across other products and teams. I built several prototypes of the designs the team had chosen, for further testing with users. The prototype I built of the direction we landed on can be viewed in the link below.
